These beautiful lace Victorian inspired envelopes add an original touch to wedding announcements and you can easily make them yourself! All you need is double sided tape and square paper doilies. Generally doilies come in sizes of 8x8, 10x10 and 12x12 and can be bought online in stock (I bought 1000 for under $50.00). I used an 8x8 doily, which makes an envelope that can snuggly fit a 4x6 invite.
You can fold the doily around a 4x6 piece of cardstock (leaving a few centimeters of working space on each side so invites can be easily extracted and put in) or you can follow these instructions that prove to be more time consuming but also produce a bit of a more finished looking product.
Instructions:
Step 1: Create a template for the tracing paper/vellum.
Step 1: Create a template for the tracing paper/vellum.
Step 2: Trace the template into the tracing paper and use a cutter to cut it. But for the folded side in the middle, use the blunt edge of the cutter to give a folding mark.
Step 3: Spray the tracing paper with adhesive spray. Don’t forget to put newspaper to cover the surrounding area. Leave it for 15 seconds. Carefully stick it to the doilies, make sure it fits perfectly.
Step 4: Fold the doilies to follow the tracing paper’s structure. Secure the inside of the envelope with double-sided tape.
Step 5: Pat yourself on the back, for you just created something beautiful!
Wow!! That is such a great idea!! I'll definitely tell my engaged friends to check this blog out! :) Thanks Arianna! :)
